S/Pdif coaxial cable.
can I use just any old rca cable, or is this some special coaxial cable?

you talking about the adapter SPDIF to RCA? if so you should be able to use a video type of RCA cable.

I just dug out my old cambridge soundworks desktop theater system. to get 5.1 it uses a s/pdif in connection, there is a spidif out on the back of my system. so what do i need to connect them?
