Default Mini Duke Nukem Forever Demo Review

After waiting 14 years, Duke Nukem Forever sees the light of day. Those that pre-order the new game or have a copy of Borderlands GOTY edition received a early look at the demo. For those that played and enjoyed the Duke3d a smile will come back to your face as you first start the game. One of Duke's classic one line sayings is shown on the screen as an instant reminded of Duke3d. The demo starts off a little before the last game ended. Just before the final boss fight, you find yourself in the restroom of all places. The shattered mirror is a reminder of how Duke3d was one of the early 3d games to use a mirror. The speed at which the Duke Nukem walks is fairly slow, don't worry this will speed up later. After leaving the restroom you enter a room where security guards are playing out how to take out the boss. You can't seem to walk around them for no apparent reason. After playing around on the white board to show how you would attack the boss fight, you are allowed to go into the hallway. Soon you are able to move around at a decent speed. The boss fight scene is done fairly and an improvement over the last the last game, except for one thing. To defeat the boss you must hammer on the space bar a few times. In the end you still get to kick the boss's eye ball through the field goal. For the most part this honestly would have been a great part to stop the demo. The demo offer a second level, which personally probably should not have been included in the demo. The level is located in the desert, which allows you to drive a large monster truck around for part of the level. The bad part is the monster truck feels like a little toy truck.

    PROS:
Duke Nukem is back and will be released June 14 (Usa)
The first boss fight is improved

    CONS:
    Feels like a console game
    No kicking
    2 weapon maximum.

Yes, I know some of my cons were already announced, but they were part of what makes Duke ... Duke Nukem. If the demo was just the boss level, I would have considered buying as it reminded me of hours of fun playing Duke3d. After playing the second level, all I could think was this a bad fan made level. Hopefully, the rest of the game is more fun. Pounding a key repetitively may work on a console, but it is annoying to do so on a keyboard. Sadly for now, based off of the demo, I would wait until this game is in the bargain bin before picking it up. Maybe reviews of the full game will prove me wrong.

Biased review: Enjoyed Duke3d and played all of the side-scrollers before it. I dislike playing with a gamepad (unless you are talking classic controllers).
*Note this is a personal review and not the view of Bjorn3d*

This is more of a preview than a review. At the very least it should have been titled Demo Review.

Fair enough. Title changed. I tried not to include too much to limit any spoiling.
