GPU temps are high, kinda

Hello, I am running 2 XFX 9600 GSO's SLi'd and when upgrading my RAM I had to pull one of my GPU cards and found it was a bit dusty ( in the fan ), So I cleaned everything up the sticker in the center of the fan hub was halfway off so i inspected it and found that the fan would not freely spin it kinda would spin as you spin it then it freely spun and stopped on it's own abruptly. I never paid it very much attention before as I routinely vac my case every 3 months or so and was wondering if 135f is to high for A GPU? My other card runs about 112f, and yes I have A well ventilated case & cool air blowing on it through A window AC. Any advice would be GREAT. I just don't have a base temp to go from or what would be considered normal. Thanks, DJ..

Why not just replace the fan. If that is not an option then maybe remove the cover from the card

no that's not tooo high. that card can go up to 70 C- 158 F. I ran mine at approx 152-160 F for a year or more folding 24/7 and it still works fine.
but the fan shouldn't stop. if you can find another 8600-9800 series card that doesn't work , you should be able to raid the cooler from it. the xfx gso's are a referance card. all those should have the same cooler on them. or you could get an after market fan maybe. the layout on my xfx 9800gt is almost the same as my 960gso

Does the fan stop when the computer is running? From your post it sounds like when you are manually spinning the fan and then let go it stops. If it doesn't stop when running then everything should be good those temps are fine

Nope, The fan is running I just found it odd that it when i tried to man-turn it about halfway through the turn it would quickly spin and then kinda spin back and forth about a half turn ( GPU unhooked & in hand ). Thanks for the advice..

Thanks BlackSmith1, For the advice. My top GPU did'nt run this high back in the winter down here in the Gulf Coast, And im responsible for not checking my temps often enough, And as I stated in my first post I noticed this after an upgrade of RAM. Early last fall I added the extra GPU and it was'nt running this high til it got in the upper 90's this year, Heck it's been A 100f outside for A few days already, But my indoor temps are usually 80 to 83 max w/both my central & window A/C's running. But enough of my rambling, THANKS to YOU & EVERYONE !! for the advice and the reassurance you guys are an awesome community to be A part of. The BEST to ALL, DJ.

I keep my ambient temps at about 70 F year round. the higher the room temps, the higher the sys temps. just the way it works. up the air flow in the case is your best bet.
as for the spin stop thing. it's the magnets in the fan. if they werent there it would just spin freely (but wouldn't actualy work) the use a "bearingless" design basicly maglev. so when you spin it, it gets past the point it can keep going, and then the magnets drag back it to it's "rest" position. I'll bet if you pay attention it stops moving at the same spots every time. (2, 3, or 4 depending on the # of magnets)
