More like the definition of most modern day PC games, that would be shoddy console ports. IF it even comes to PC, though I'm guessing it will.

I really liked original Far Cry, Far Cry 2, not so much. This one looks like it could be even worse than the 2nd.

I DLed the above video from this site, as it was the only one I could find claiming an HD res. I viewed it at 100%, which wasn't much bigger if any than the default size of YouTube's viewer. The file size was a whopping 1.2GB for the 7 min vid, yet it still didn't look too sharp.

Other than that the gameplay and dialog look rather scripted, arcade and immature. One would think onscreen kill points being shown would be limited to an arcade mode, vs included in an overall dev run through. Some of the stealth kills look cool at first, but they are just scripted animations, acomplished merely by pressing the action key/button when prompted.

The AI don't look too bright either. Note how some shoot at him when he jumps in the water to flank, yet others are clueless to where he is and he shoots them while they're facing where he was before he even jumped in the water. In other words, run n gun console gameplay.

I have a feeling this will be yet another story filled with nonsense characters, and numerous lengthy cutscenes with them babbling on endlessly. Only difference this time is they're crazed lunatics that are fascinated by simple ideas, vs an anti political arms dealer that thinks he has the world figured out.

I'm guessing we won't get to pilot any vehicles in this one either. Far Cry 2 may have had a crap story, ridiculous AI respawns, senseless convoy missions, and fairly repetitious gameplay, but the game looked pretty good, the land and water vehicles were great to drive, the fire propagation fun to play with, the in-game (not cutscene) dialog humorous, and the AI were pretty good at hunting you down unless you stayed completely out of sight/sound of them.

Games aren't really getting better, just their marketing schemes more clever.

Every indication so far is that the gameplay is more like the 2nd, only worse. Anyways, it's going to be a while. Sounds like originally it was planned for end of 2011, but has been pushed back to some time in 2012.

the videos they posting are from a consoul. Like oh gee whiz them graphics look so clean and such, I so wished my computer games looked as crappy as our console counterparts.

Same res as the one I linked to actually, but I agree. Even if the PC version looks a bit better than the trailers as with Crysis 2, it still won't likely look as good as Far Cry 2. Maybe not even as good as original Far Cry.

I haven't seen FC 2 on my new rig yet, so I'll reserve judgement on that. Original Far Cry was probably the most graphically advanced game for it's time though, even compared to today's games for their times. It was a visual leap in technology like none other.

As far as Wii U goes, even if all the games are 1080p, it still has just a 4000 series ATI GPU. So it will likely beat 360 and maybe even PS3 performance, but it's a long way from matching an enthusiast level gaming PC.

I really don't see the point of advanced graphics on a system that has been known for simplistic cartoon-like games anyway, but they'll no doubt be included now in a lot of multi platform titles, since it can handle them now.
