Last I heard this was legit, and I'm waiting to see if it is before upgrading.

Till I see something that is directly from AMD, it stays in the rumor catagory. and my next major upgrade will be Bulldozer I hope.

I agree with Black until I see some real performance 3's or something from AMD themselves I'll take it with a grain of salt.

the wait should not be too long. the cpu should be coming soon. Though I guess it's not soon enough for some people/

From what I've heard, Bulldozer wont be close to Piledriver in performance numbers.

Yes, but the "rumor" is that the piledriver won't be compatible which mean an entire platfrom upgrade, M/B and all.

I already know this and I think I've spoken about it here already. It's called socket FM2 and will start with 10 cores and quite possibly quad channel RAM. The one thing that is certain, is the NB is integrated finally with the CPU. THIS is why I'm saying Piledriver is what Bulldozer should have been. AMD playing with the backwards compat kiddies to much.

for those that have to do upgrades one piece at a time backwards compatibility has been a godsend.

To be honest, I wouldn't.. 10 Cores is a whole lot, and unless you're a giant multitasker using several multithreaded applications I'd doubt you'd be able to ever fully use it's potential. A piece of code can only be parallellized to a certain degree..

Very true but trust me if they have a mobo with enough PCI-E like a big bang I would use them all.

I hear that. I'd love a 4 slot board with 4 dual GPU cards to fold on. that would leave 2 cores for SMP and web surfing.

Depends on how you look at it. In all honesty, it's the reason AMD is lagging behind in the performance world.
