Default I forgot how scary DOOM 3 can be.

I decided to throw on Doom 3 on my machine and see how it handles. After a few tweaks here an dthere I was able to span this game across all three monitors

There are some mods to make it look better. I didn't find the game that fascinating when it came out so didn't download them.

I like it'd enough to get to go get Resurection of Evil. But I'm an id Fan from all the way back in the days whenyou had to download the original doom, and wait for the next installment...

It's also a good reminder why games being turned into movies is a bad idea. That scene made me think of the end of the Doom movie with the first person shooter imitation.

Carmack should have insisted on content control for that film. It sucked when compared to either game (original and 3) because it didn't follow the story line. Based on it's own merits, it was ok for a b-rate Sci-Fi film.

I've played the first Doom almost as many times as I've played Oblivion.....just didn't like the bulky huge UT3 look of Doom 3.

I loved the graphics on it. It was one of the reasons upgraded my video when I bought my GSO's.

Doom3 and Far Cry were the two games that inspired me to buy my first serious gaming PC. The graphics in both were pretty good for their time and each had it's own unique flavor of atmosphere to immerse the player in.

My first gaming experiences were with the likes of Return to Castle Wolfenstein, Deus Ex, and Medal of Honor. It wasn't until the better graphics of Doom3 and Far Cry that I wanted better hardware.

I don't generally get scared with games though, even the first time through in the dark using headphones. I would say for me Doom3 was more of a game that could startle me now and then. Even after several play throughs I could never remember where all the monster closets were.

My favorite horror game so far is Dead Space 2. It has a fairly deep and intriguing story, visceral close combat, engaging cinematics and boss fights, lots of great levels, creepy sounds, good lighting and shadows, and excellent details like the zero G suit boosters make it a contender for Game of the Year.

My favorite was F.E.A.R. as far as scary. There were a few times it made me jump, and once or twice it really creeped me out. Still want to try 2 and 3.

Fear had that nasty habit of holding you in suspense the entire way through, and then have thi9ngs pop up and out. causing you to shoot at anything, including thin air. I haven't played doom 3 but once and that was when it got first released and put it away, I threw it on this time just to see if it could work spanned and after a few minor tweaks and some file replacements I was able to. The one part that got me, was when you walk into the bathroom after the **** has hit the fan, and then you look into the mirror ...

I played Doom 3 with a highly OCed FX 5600ultra. I played through it once and haven't touched it since. Farcry on the other hand....I played that countless times. I don't like FEAR, didn't like Dead Space, Doom 3, Farcry2, Crysis 1/2, or a few others. I did enjoy Metro2033 and Stalker though. It took me 2 years to finally get into Stalker but when I did I played all 3 back to back almost non stop.

It was nothing like those 2. Farcry2 had a bunch of running around, and the pill popping was annoying. I could go on and on how annoying that game was. Stalker is an open world RPG/FPS; Metro is a closed quarters horror FPS. Farcry 2 is like a Rambo kind of FPS with a disease lol.

Farcry 2 steered into a Just Cause direction, getting contracts, running around endlessly. was fun to a point.
