that's funny. I've had more problems from seagate drives than WD drives over the years, and i've had alot more wd's (got 2 in my sys right now)

I stopped using seagate due to too many failures.

Just guess bad batches. I have owned over 35 WD drives never a single problem. Have owned about 15 Seagates and have had 4 of them fail. Usually controllers go bad. Have had 7 OCZ SSD with one failure. 5 Crucial SSD and no failures.

I still have a WD 40MB brick drive, and it probably still works.

Bad batches out of completely different generations? My first WD drive was a 500MB and my last a 1TB Green. Only other kind of drive I've had die on me was an IBM Deathstar.

luck of the draw, just like people say about ford and chevy. I dpm't avoid seagate, I've had a few that worked fine, really lately i just go with easy to get cheap... whatever brand it happens to be.

When I was younger I was stuck with anything I got for free. Naturally any drive would do, but I got tired of losing my music and pictures because it always seemed to be that drive that died on me. I have only had 2 good WD drives, 1 being my first SATA drive and the next is a 40GB SATA1 drive that is still in use in my 98 box.
