Default Battlefield 3 - Retail Copy

So what do you guys think so far. Do you guys enjoy the non-BETA full retail copy? i can definitely see a few bug fixes that were still present in the BETA, though they still need to fix a few bugs for multi-monitor gaming since lots of the flares are way too bright on 3 monitors and they are also stretched. I haven't had much time to play but so far looks exciting!

Haven't had a chance to play retail yet. Did they spruce up the graphics or was that just a beta rumor?

I fired up BF 3 last night and have only played sp so far. Can anyone that has the game tell me if you're having problems with hitchy movement when near the squad AI? If I so much as get within 15' of them, the movement gets very choppy. Further away it's fine. This is not a frame rate issue. It hums along at 35-40 FPS with auto detect settings enabled and doesn't lag. I also updated to the BF 3 recommended 285.62 driver.

I'm not on the newer driver and I don't have that problem. Only thing I see wrong so far is the AI just walk through walls. I have only played about 10-20 minutes worth of the game before I had to leave today though.

Someone on the EA BF3 forum said the previous driver had no hitchy movement but shadow problems, and now with 285.62 shadows are very bad on many objects. I seem to have both problems. I am not however having severe hitching when moving far away from AI like some are.

I found a directx folder in the game files, which updated the DX though. Previously when trying to DL the latest version on the DX Runtime site it said I had the latest. It seems to have smoothed it out noticeably, but still hitchy in spots.

I also found a 2 month newer driver for my Realtek HD audio, so the minor 1 to 2 minute dropout I got the first run through may have been due to that. I'll have a better idea when I finish this 2nd play through. I may try rolling back my video driver before starting a run on Hard.

I've noticed how annoying the light glares are.

Also, does anyone else have a problem with splotches staying on the screen forever during the SP?

They are over excessive though. Like when I look out my front door half my vision isn't blinded due to a single street light. It is something every one complained about in the beta. The sniper scope glare which in RL is literally not noticed, the tactical light being way to powerful, and the light glare from ambient light. I also hate how in some areas you can't shoot out the lights, but in others you can. When ever I can and I'm in a firefight I shoot out headlights and ambient lights to gain an advantage.....aka be able to see.

I have tactical lights that will blind you from a 100 yards, thats what there ment to do besides help you see what your shooting at ..
Try looking into a 75,000 Candle Power Stremie Light which is what most Police use ..

But I understand what your saying being that its in a game PP Mguire.

Well I don't know about you, but if I was in a situation like that in RL I would not want to use a light that is so bright all of Russia can see you from a metro tunnel
That is simply what I'm getting at. I can understand using a light to see, but not one so bright that everybody and their mother can see you from half way across the tunnel. If you forget to turn it off outdoors people can still see it rendering your position compromised.

My main complaint is still the ambient lighting. The glare is just stupid IMO.

Being in a Russian Subway with a bright light aint the games fault its the person using it..

And if you get killed by a person using it well then I guess he won because he used what tools he had on hand !!!
