X79 Nvidia Surround Availability

Looks like all those people that bought an X79 board and the new 3930K or 3960X processor are not able to enjoy Nvidia Surround. I am one of those people and it has been quite annoying for the past week and a half especially since all those people that have it know how enjoyable it is to play your games on 3 monitors. Either way, I talked with Nvidia, and it looks like there won't be an update before the 4 day weekend, and we'll have to wait till next week before we see a new driver update.

Thank you for the update! I am new here (from EVGA forums) and am one of those guys too who have a 3930k/Asus R4E sitting in front of me and no way to use Surround. Frustrated is an understatement.

Yeah, we will have to live through Thanksgiving without Surround. Hope you have a nice Thanksgiving as well! I'll keep this thread updated if I hear more back.

The Nvidia Drivers need to validate the motherboard before it supports key Nvidia features. Their latest Beta drivers did not validate it yet since those came out before the release date. They should still have it validated before release for reviewers so they could test it. My speculations are that they claimed performance improvements on the new drivers, yet there is not that much if any performance increase, so they are trying their best to improve it before they release it.

Either way, it's super annoying.

I figured the validation is only for SLI which you can get around pretty easily. Kinda stupid they need it for 3D too.

SLI and 3D works, Surround doesn't work. It's when you have 3 monitors.

Well, if you had a system that would play it smooth, I think you would like Surround. Not 3D Surround. I like 3D, but only certain games look nice in 3D. Surround on the other hand is awesome. Doesn't look too cool on photos, because you can a look at any monitor easily, and then you see a slight morph effect, but when you use the side monitors as your peripheral vision, or you use them for working on projects, then it is really nice to have multiple monitors. I'm missing it a lot at the moment.

Oh I wasn't saying Surround is stupid, I was saying it is my opinion that you need that verification between drivers and the hardware to make it work. I mean, it's 3 freakin monitors =/

I found some Samsung 27" LCDs that I want to grab to try surround with. They have tiny bezels and just happen to be 3D *rolleyes*. Sorry, not a big fan of 3D, but do want to try surround again but without huge bezels.

Do make sure that when you try out surround, you set a custom resolution, as the native resolution will not line up the slanted lines in the games as they cross from one monitor to another. So you use the custom resolution to line it up and render invisible lines between the bezels.

The new Forceware 290.36 BETA drivers are out now with full X79 Surround support. Finally!

Works on many Sims and you can adjust it.

I must use version 1.09,but Windows 7 users get a much more customizable resolution with 2.07.
And it has a tool to calculate best resolution.

Drop the .dll's in your game or sim's "bin" directory,set resolution in Sim, and go.

That is pretty sweet and I like the fact that it can be any monitor and doesn't have to be specific to the other ones. I will have to give this a try in the future, though the game support is very limited at this point in time because it seems like each game needs its own coded file for this to work.
