Banned from Origin forums, Lose Games
From Rock Paper Shotgun:
If you use Origin, don't post on the forums. Or don't use Origin.I’m building up quite the portfolio of affected gamers, who find after a forum violation they’re unable to access their Origin games. And within this is a more disturbing trend – those who are finding that their forum bans are, without explanation, becoming permanent bans. Permanent bans from accessing their Origin accounts, their Battlelog accounts, and therefore downloading purchased games, and playing online. Something which obviously raises serious questions about consumer rights, which is of course another angle we’re currently investigating.
Most exceptional perhaps is Aaron, who after receiving a 72 hour ban was told by EA support they couldn’t help because “the game developers control this”. Pardon? His crime? Someone else swearing on the forum, with his username in their post. Trying the live chat support instead, he was then informed that his account was permanently banned, and that “all property, items, and characters associated currently are or will soon be deleted.” Followed by, “Is there anything else I can do for you?” Aaron tried again, pointing out that forum bans shouldn’t affect games. And then came this incredible reply:
“Please be informed that your account not only suspended, But it is also Banned, So you will no longer to play the game in single player.”

Holy cow, that is nuts! I just got BF3 and I did make a post in the Origin Forums regarding the lousy game connection process. And I specifically complained about the annoying "You have been disconnected from EA Online" message I get with nearly every attempt to connect to a game. I'll be sure to never post again in the forums. Yikes! But, then again, I didn't curse there, nor would I ever.

I had some problems with Origin games in the past, where they said I have reached the limit of activations I can have for a game, and this happened several times. I also had a problem where my old hotmail account which was connected with Microsoft Live for certain games that require login during the start would get locked due to the fact that I haven't used that email, though Origin support was always helpful and they gave me a new serial for the game that I could register under. You just have to scare them, tell them you will never buy from EA or Origin again, and all of a sudden they do magic. Either way, I don't like the way they run everything, and I heard some bad stories about Battlefield 3 users not being able to access the game and other things. I have a steam account with like 27 games on it, and never had a problem with them since past year when I started the account with them.

I and my family have between us 6 steam accounts. none of us has ever had a problem other than the technical type, and those were solved reasonably quickly by using the forums. the one time I had to resort to steam support they were very helpfu,l although a bit slow. the guy appologized and said they were buried with support requests at the time.

I'm actually a little tempted by Origin. I finally got EA to fix my account logging problems, went to the store and saw that Mass Effect 2 is on sale for €5 today. That's a good enough price to add it to my game collection. Still, with all the bad press I guess I'll have to resist. I don't have high hopes that it will show up on Steam for a low price, because EA is unlikely to want that, but I don't really need the game.

I read somewhere that someone made a way to bypass Origin for those whom bought the game legitimately and don't want to have to play via it. I don't know if it's true or if it works though.
