Folding@Home Team update.
Well guys the contest went away since I could not get the current sponsor to ship stuff on time and was making the site look bad. At the same time I lost my job and have started my own IT business under the same company I own Bjorn3D with.
Things are finally getting under control for me and I am now persuing a new sponsor. I am trying to find a graphics cards sponsor. My question is do you think it has to be graphics cards or do you think people would compete for cases and other stuff?
I tend to think GPU's are better since the winner may stay with our team and use the cards to do it.
Please let me know what you think and any ideas you may have.
Thanks

Either idea is fine so long as it's computer related.

I think both is fine. But could I recommend trying to get powercolor as a sponsor they kick @$$! Or SeaSonic would be nice too!

Also lost my job a while back, which resulted in selling several computer components including my folding card. Overall I would say GPUs are the best option as most can use them to upgrade their current card. This is more likely to have them keep folding as you mentioned. Depending on what else it offered, you might see more people start folding due to wanting different part, so I would probably say both is best to bring in new people.

The trend has been to offer GPU as prize for the winner. Which in the same time helping investing on our Team , so a win-win.
A side note question : Can I fold with two different cards in one motherboard(HD7xxx with GTX5xx) or 5850 + 7950 without being connected in SLI or Crossfire ?

I'm glad everything is under control and hope it's smooth sailing from now on.
Regarding the prizes, while I'd like to win a new case I'm not going to force anyone to carry something this big and heavy from the US, so unless the sponsor can directly send cases overseas I would not enter into these competitions.
Other than this I have no problems with the prizes. I agree that NVIDIA GPU's are good prizes for folding, but since you were giving quite a few motherboards before I don't see why there's a sudden need to limit the variety of prizes offered. Still, at least have graphics cards occasionally. I always love winning them.

Yes you can fold with different cards in the same PC. Do not use the Xfire or SLI bridges.

Very glad to hear things are on the up swing for you Scott. I agree that GPU's would be a first choice. Maybe an occasional high current power supply for those that want to try folding on multiple cards on the same box. I'm trying to get a dedicated PC back running to just fold with as I hope to get more involved again.

As I stated when I was still eligible for the contedts. I'd fold for a pen or coffee cup with the site logo on it, But I fold anyway. The mother boards seemed to be popular. I'd say try anything once, twice if you like it.
@ Dr.MightySnake, Nvidia cards allow folding on multiple cards even with SLI enabled. If you have the drivers installed and the client configured to use the cards you can mix Nvida and AMD cards for folding. I do not know if folding while crossfire is enable is possible. The path to universal understanding starts here: Say what you mean, and mean what you say.

HDD and/or SSD. Unless SE Asia has dried out, HDD's would be nice to win.
