3D gaming...CHEAP!
very cheap infact.
If you have a 3D capable nvidia card you can play games in 3d for the cost of a Wendy's kids meal.
I know because i did it.
ok my version is for people that wear glasses in front of their system, and have a spare pair but this effect can be obtained by anyone.
I have played batman Arkham Asylum, Just Cause 2, Portal, Left 4 Dead, and COD4 with these and in 3D!!! ok COD4 was a bit weak but it was in a very dark area. the colors seem a bit washed out also.
the only thing I had to do my self was edit the registry key for "RightAnaglyphFilter" from ff00ffff to ff0000ff, since by default it's setup for red/cyan, and We need red/blue.
Does it work as well as the Nvidia galses? Don't know, but I'm guessing not. the thing is that all one needs to do is enable the 3D in the Nvidia control panel and then run the wizard, when it come time to tell it what you are using, pick the bottom one "discover glasses". Just Cause 2 portal and Batman all looked pretty good. L4d was kinda sometimes it looks great sometimes you dont really notice it. COD4??? need to get into a better lighted area.
the pics are everything I used and it took about 6-10 mins ( had to re trim the lenses)The path to universal understanding starts here: Say what you mean, and mean what you say.

I take it you still need dual cards and 3 120hz screens to do this?

Don't know if you need dual cards for 3D. I am using an (ONE) old viewsonic 60 Hz 19 inch. because there are no shutters the speed of the monitor doesn't matter. I belive it would work with just one card but I'm in SLI for the settings.
BTW F.E.A.R works pretty good also. The path to universal understanding starts here: Say what you mean, and mean what you say.

My neighbor just got a 60" LG plasma 3D TV. We watched Harold and Kumar's 3D Christmas on it and it was simply amazing in stereoscopic clarity, gamma and depth of 3D effects. Every other 3D movie he showed me on it looked lackluster though, including even Avatar.
A lot of movies have 3D effects applied post production and don't account for reduced gamma with glasses properly and have inconsistent stereoscopic quality. Some characters will show in double image, while some don't, and colors can be quite muted by the lack of proper gamma calibration. For instance the Aussie whom plays the lead in Avatar looks to have dark brown hair with the glasses on, but it's supposed to have a noticeable red tint to it.
I came away confirming my initial speculations were true that 3D has not yet evolved to the point where it's worthwhile investing in. If big box office movies aren't even consistent in their 3D quality, I can only imagine how bad a lot of games look in 3D, and there's not that many games available in 3D anyway. Honestly, the best reason to have a 120Hz monitor or TV is to get double the frames, not to have 3D capability.
That said, I'm sure 3D will evolve if it catches on in the home, IF that is. We all thought IPS monitors would catch on, and look how they've died out in selection. I do find some of the advances in 3D interesting though, like Sony's TVs that allow you to play split screen with each player having a full screen. Ultimately that's just using 3D tech for non 3D purposes though.

Surround being the opreative word. for 3d vision it requires a single card that is 3d capable, and almost any monitor (for the red/blue vers). there are a very few that won't work according to one article I read. as I never heard of them before that, I didn't pay attention to what they were.
