I've had a version on my HDD waiting to be installed for at least a month... not really that interested after what I've seen on the web.

Haven't tried the Release Preview yet. I have the Consumer Preview installed in VirtualBox, but felt like a waste of time to get to use it seriously. I'll probably download the new version and test it, and I expect that I'll feel the same (that it was a waste of time doing so).

I actually like it, seems to be a bit faster then Windows 7. I will have to say it does take some time getting used to it. But if you know how to make quick launches, and know where the start menu programs are hidden then it is not all that bad.

I don't like the task manager or Metro at all, or the fact that this OS was obviously made with mobile devices in mind over the general user. The only thing I have been told is Windows 8 has less of a foot print but with 8-16GB of RAM being so cheap and me being OCD on resources anyways it isn't a buying aspect to me. So Windows 8 will be the new Vista to me, or ME if you will.

Besides us having to use it for testing future DirectX 11.1 applications (if it will be needed), at the moment I don't see the reason for using it. Maybe wait for Windows 9 which might be the fixed up version of Windows 8, just like Windows Vista and Windows 7.

A few days after I had installed Acronis to backup both my wife's and my computers. My wife decides she is going to show me that she is becoming a bit of a computer geek. She tried using it for about two hours and begged me to get rid of it. Luckly the first thing I had done with Acronis was build a full system image, so restoring from the NAS was easy.
I think Windows 8 is gonna be a pass for me too.

You like Acronis? I am using WHS11 and am very luke warm about the backup system. I have too many large files and not enough HDD space left.
