I started playing Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers on my Nexus 7. It's an adventure game from 1993, which means it has painful to watch low res graphics and a clunky user interface. However just reading all the texts is quite a bit of fun. I really should find my bluetooth headset or buy a new one, because there are some well known actors narrating the game, so it's a pity to not hear them.

I dropped GTA4 and now I'm finishing my last save on FF9 that I stopped playing a long time ago. Going to finish this then probably hang up gaming for a while.

Ever since I built my PC, I've been playing Left 4 Dead 2 and Half Life 2 mainly. Both are excellent games
.
The only issue I have with HL2 though, is that it still has that "nausea bug" in it. After about 45min of playing the game I start to feel sick and a little while later I just can't play anymore. When the jet-ski level comes up, it'll be super fun, but at the same time it won't be cool.

The "nausea bug" is in the user, not the game. I can play it for hours and not have an issue. What's going on is that you have a difficulty maintaining a balance visually with the frame rate of the game. My dad has the same issue with every FPS out there, always has. I, on the other hand, never have any issues with it and it just blows his mind, lol.
Btw, I finally tried out the demo for Bastion and I gotta say I really like this game already. Can't afford to buy it yet, but it's in my top 10 have-to-get games right now, for sure. I especially like the whole film-noir storytelling of it, totally took me by surprise as I've not read about that in any reviews anywhere. Great stuff, really intense and the story is fantastic.

I don't think so. The "nausea bug" was a well known issue for HL2 back in the day. It was addressed shortly after the game was released, but even then it didn't resolve the issue 100%. This is the only game that this happens to me on, so it's not "the user" per-se this time. It's the actual game.
I had just thought that after so much time, this would have been properly addressed by Valve.

Nah I gotta agree, it's the user. There are literally tons of games based on UE3 but only a few people have problems with it like I do. I don't agree with the theory of why, as I personally believe it has more to do with FoV ect, but it still makes it a user problem. I've never had a problem with HL2 like that and since it generally affects random people it makes it a psychological problem between the user and the game. Sort of like how certain games can cause people to go into seizures ect, yet it doesn't affect others.
BTW CDs, are you using Cinematic Mod? If not you really should be using it while playing through HL2.Univac

Exactly. If it was something that was built into the game itself, it would affect every player, and I know numerous people who've never had an issue with either HL2 or any UE3 game. There are people who get that from playing racing games, some from FPS', some from 3PS like Halo, but it's still very uncommon and so much so that most people never notice it at all unless they see someone else affected by it, such as dizziness or vomiting. Those usually affected are also susceptible to doing so during long car rides, cruises, boat rides, etc. It's a form of equilibrium-effective motion sickness. Try taking some dramamine or something before playing, it should help a lot.

I'm a weird case. I get bad headaches from playing UE3 games, the only exception being Mass Effect. I don't get any form of motion sickness and I've been on long road trips, a cruise twice, been in the air, and also road on trains. Even though the very last night of the cruise we had a ton of rocking from rocky waters and I was starting to get sick, but I'm pretty sure that was from the alcohol content in my drinks

IDK guys. I've played TONS of games in the past (not so many recently but that's changing of course, lol) both on PC and console, and HL2 has been the ONLY game that has affected me in any manner. And I remember when HL2 first came out that this happened to me and it was happening to a bunch of other people too who were also complaining about it. I swear it. Just click on my link on my previous post. On this particular game I don't feel that "it's the user" (me). I genuinely believe it's still the game as many people were complaining about this.
What's the Cinematic Mod?
And what's UE3? Unreal Engine 3?
It pretty much was affecting every player. So much so that many gaming websites were commenting on this. Seriously, click the link in my previous post like I just said if you haven't.
I'm not one to be affected by everything else you've listed and I've never been affected in any manner by any other game except for HL2.
BTW, Halo is an FPS, not a 3PS

Googling Cinematic Mod is easier than me explaining it. Think of Skyrim texture mods for HL2, except large scale. Seriously, I would NOT play anymore of that game until you download and install it.
I don't have any problems playing HL2 or any other Source based game. It's purely psychological. Just because it happens to many doesn't mean it happens to all meaning you all have the same psychological experience playing the game. It's the exact same thing for me and UE3 (yes Unreal Engine 3). Something psychological happens and it causes me serious headaches. Just how the engine works with it's FoV, DoF, ect ect.Univac
