What game are you playing lately?
Let's start a new discussion here guys. The "Crysis 3 Alpha" thread kinda got derailed after inserting talks about counter-strike, unreal tournament 3 and other games LOL. Here's what this thread is about:
Q: What game are you playing lately?
> give a short description of the game and why you decided to play it, continue playing it or stopped playing it.
> give your recommendations
> things you like about it, things you dislike about it.
----------------------------------------------
So I'll go first
I'm currently playing Mass Effect 3. A futuristic game that is like a mixture of FPS and RPG since you are free you make your own storyline unlike COD and battlefield series that you can only follow a particular storyline.
Battle scenes are relatively challenging, but not as much as BF3 or crysis 2 wherein you would experience a lot of deaths and failures. Just a few failures when you're facing really strong monsters. I find it fun and relatively long to finish (since I finished the BF3 campaign in just 4 days, this I'm on my second week) but there never was a boring moment (unless you got lost in the galaxy or running around in the citadel figuring out the next move). If you're an FPS kind of gamer, this is a good game. By the way I haven't played Mass Effect 1 or 2 but it seems to be okay wherein you wouldn't be filled in with what happened before.
Likes:
Lady characters are HOOOOOOOT! I can say developers really took their time to shape each character's bust, arse and figure hahahaha
I like Miranda Lawson (voice actress: Yvonne Strahovski) and Diana Allers (voice actress: Jessica Chobot). Yvonne Strahovski is a popular actress. She played Sarah Walker in the comedy-spy action series Chuck. Even EDI is hot LOL (the battleship's AI). It's nice that they really used the actual looks of the voice actresses.

Dislikes:
Went with Jane Shepard as the main character and she's getting these glowing scars on her face LOL. Trying to remove them by getting more paragon points but the renegade points just kept coming like it was inevitable X__X
Also, movement is relatively limited compared to BF3, COD and Crysis 2 wherein it had dedicated keys for crouch, sprint and so on. In Mass Effect 3, those would be compounded to using the SPACEBAR. LOL. But you'll get a hang of it after some time.Last edited by peti1212; 11-12-2012 at 12:03 AM.

New Vegas
Playing it for two reasons: 1. I got it for free and 2. I have a new video card. Other than that, I am not a big fan of the game. I will eat my words IF I can finish this game and it gets dramatically better.
Here it is in a nutshell: Walk across a post-apocalyptic desert running errands for people all the while you gather garbage to either sell or use to manufacture other items such as bullets –which you never have enough of. At various points along the game, depending on the substance of your interactions, groups of people and their friends get mad at you and hate you – or love you if you do something for them. Very much like junior high school minus the radiation.
I am most disappointed in the graphics and the amount of walking from point A to point B. Add to it the tedium of having to pickup and judge every piece of crap you come across to see if it would be valuable to you or not. I can kind of forgive the graphics (2 years old) but the general game play is meh! If I find a good deal on a great game at Steam, I will never finish New Vegas.BBQASUS P8Z68-V PRO; i7 2600k @ 4.1GHz; Kingston HyperX 16 GB @ 1866; Mushkin Enhanced Callisto Deluxe 90GB SSD with Win7 Home Premium 64bit; OCZ Vertex 2 SATA II 2.5" SSD 60GB - Programs; 2 WD 2 TB Caviar Green RAID1; WD 2 TB Cavier Green in external USB3 case;EVGA FTW 670 GTX; Acer 22 inch Widescreen; PSU: Ultra 4x 1050

Glad there are more gamers on here.
Been playing at several games myself.
Dead Space 2..trying to finsih it. Esentially, you are a space ship engineer that destroyed an artifcat that was changing humans into monsters. One of the commanders recreated it somehow or another and the monsters are back. It's a very dark and blooy game but a good story.
Counter Strike: Global Offensive...this needs no desciption. Good ol' CS with newer graphics and some game play changes.
A Game of Dwarves- A fun little game. You are a Prince dwarf. Daddy Dwarf (King) decides its time for you to stop being a fat lazy dwarf and sends you out to run your own clan. Basically you dig, explore, build, harvest resources and fight monsters. Kind of an RTS with a little strat and rpg. Humorous at times.

Not really playing anything right now. Been doing hardware experiments so the only time I fire up a game is for said experiment. I was considering downloading all the latest updates for STEP and replay Skyrim, but I've already logged over 400 hours into it. I will probably play Blops 2 when it comes out. If you are interested in my older stuff:
Currently playing Mechwarrior 3 on my 98box.
Mechwarrior 3 is a mech game that takes place sometime in the 31st century. You can call it a FPS but I recommend the use of a joystick with all Mechwarrior games. You are tossed into a mech to command your lance and you can pretty much tackle the missions any way you please. Sometimes the missions are pretty linear but that is only because you have one objective that you must get to or said object gets destroyed, or you lose it, you catch my drift.
Instead of a gear loadout on the human you configure your weapon and armor loadout on your mech. You can never walk around outside of your mech in this game. You pick up salvage from the battlefield and the mechs you kill, sometimes gaining new mechs in the processes. A very niche kind of game IMO, but if you like one mech game you pretty much like them all.
Likes:
I have loved all Mechwarrior games as Mechwarrior 2 was the second PC game I ever played as a kid. I like the idea of stomping around in a huge mech and the storyline isn't too bad either if you can follow it throughout the games. I like how you can play with a keyboard and mouse, joystick, or even a controller if you take the time to program it. Learning curve isn't too steep. Back in the day the graphics for these games were pretty top notch for what they had to work with. I like how pulse lasers in Mechwarrior 3 are straight beams rather than actual pulses. This makes absolutely no sense, but I do like them better. Much easier multiplayer setup than 2 (due to LAN being more normal).
Dislikes:
Mechwarrior 3 and 2 both need to be played on older machines, but that isn't a fault of the game itself. This particular one can get repetitive in some areas with the "drop in and destroy this and come back" type missions. I feel more time was put in to the graphics of Mechwarrior 3 than actually giving it character but actual gameplay over 2 makes up hugely for this. Heat management seems much harder in this game than any of the others. Mech balance seems kind of off too, but you can easily make up for this with skill on both accounts.
I give it a like for graphics, but I give it a dislike too. For when it came out I feel they did a fantastic job in the graphics department, but I feel they could have done better with the hardware they had available. For instance, they give a default texture resolution handle of 2, 4, or 8MB but no API options. I think they could have done more if they programmed for Glide since the Voodoo 5 was out at the time. Mechwarrior 4 came out 1 years later and the difference is very apparent with what they could have done.Univac

If I could find a game that could match the original Diablo, I would buy it.

same here!! blops 1 was really something. Story was intriguing! So mason killed JFK?!? LOL!
good review on mechwarrior. never really had a chance to do console gaming. Yeah games you play when you're younger kinda makes you look for them later especially if they add a new installation. Did play baldur's gate II before which led to playing neverwinter nights I and II .. tried playing elder scroll's IV oblivion.. it takes too much time moving around trying to figure out what's next in a huuuuuuuuuuuge map. ~_~ I think im done with those kinds of RPG
hmmm. I played Mass Effect 3 without playing 1 and 2, it still made sense
games do give you some sort of recap I believe
Well, im not a teenager anymore and being a professional gives you a very limited time
still gaming is still in my blood so I still play some if I have time. Hence, I limit that to what I deem are the best games.
By the way guys, PRIMOCHILL is giving away free Borderlands 2 codes
https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?f...type=1&theater
I think this game is one of the hottest today. Primochill is a good aftermarket cooling hardware makers too. They just started a facebook page, you might want to LIKE them. Hence, I am not connected to them... just passing out information

Currently, I'm not really playing anything at the moment. However, whenever I do have the time to play something, I'm switching between Lego Star Wars II and Fable II.
I started playing Fable II a while ago while I was living with my aunt for the few months I was there collecting myself to get back up on my feet. That was at least before I started school while living with her. Once I was back in school, I pretty much stopped playing games.
Then, once my gf and I moved back into the apartment we're in now, I tried to get my two year old daughter to play some games with me. Fable II isn't the greatest kiddie game and thus, I got into Lego Star Wars II. I pretty much play games whenever I have the time to do so since I'm so busy between full time work, full time school, and raising a family.
With Fable II, I like the fact that you can go out and build your character the way you want pretty much. It's a thing I like about action-adventure type games. I just don't like how slow it is to load between levels and some of the control limitations of the game.
On LSWII, the 3rd person camera angles are a bit off and that makes the game a bit difficult to play as well. Other than that though, it's a good game that I find quite entertaining
.
I would LOVE to get back to playing some FPS games on XBL or Steam or whatever. And one game I REALLY want now is Halo 4. Alas though, I probably won't be able to play that game until after I graduate from school in April at the earliest.

yeah dude, that's a good plan
aim for higher job positions. Supervisory level positions are always more relaxed compared to those below. I started from the bottom and I tell you, you won't even have the time to watch TV due to stress and you just want to sleep and rest the moment you get home. Now I'm supervising a team.. still time-consuming but not physically tiring.. hence I can spare an hour of so for gaming
The world is very competitive today.. Job landing is hard, more credentials is sweet aroma to any employer's nose.

I agree OP ME3 is a pretty great game. I am also excited for the next ME game (yeah who knew?).
I haven't been playing very much lately unfortunately. Only game I play off and on is SC2. No SC2 fans? Haha I would recommend it! However the expansion is coming out sometime next year so it may be better to wait for that because there is a lot more to do the expansion. Wish I had a BETA key for that!
Anyone I really like SC2 because my friends play it. Granted they have migrated to LOL and such and I never found that very much fun. I'm eagerly await AC3 for the PC to come out!

When my daughter was two I was just starting Everquest 2 Extended, the free to play version of EQ2 which just starter. She loved seeing my character riding his horse in New Halas and seeing the bears and the lions.
Now that she's 4 she finally managed to get the hang of driving in Mario Kart Wii. She's not good enough to really play, but she can go around the track.
I plan to buy an Xbox 360 with Kinect soon. I think it will be a good way to get my kids to play.
As for myself, like the others here I don't have much time to play, and I noticed that mobile gaming is the easiest, because I'm not tied to any location and sneak in a minute or two of play while watching over my kids in the bathroom, their room, the living room, ... I recently got tired of my Motorola DEFY and went back to my old Nokia 6120c, which has quite a few games I haven't yet played. I recently finished its version of Oblivion, and I'm now playing CSI New York. (I also tried the Tomb Raider Legends and Underworld on it, but it's just not that good for action games.)
