What do you mean by this? An Intel GPU is faster than a discrete Radeon 5450, for example, or the graphics in a Brazos APU.

Those were the FM1 APUs. they were kind of a "failure" and AMD will discontinue them in 2013.

FM2 APUs on the other hand have better iGPUs

I wasn't stating the names of the integrated GPUs (ex. iGPU, APU, yada, yada) or the performance, I merely commented on the type of integrated GPUs which are used by each CPU company. Integrated GPU is what means, its a GPU that is integrated along side a another device which in case is a CPU. Discrete means a dedicated graphics cards which is what the GPUs on AMD APUs are AKA the Radeon HD6000/7000 series. I hope my wording makes sense.

If Intel goes all BGA then I bet most of us will be using AMD in a few years time. Guess we'll have to wait and see. I'm hoping they just stick to mobile and low end for that.

So iCPU, or whatever Intel calls them is a combo GPU/CPU? It's just a marketing thing?

It's all marketing. Intel has always had some form of crap IGP and these days they are just built on to the CPU.

and that's what makes it better than their previous "Intel Extreme Graphics" or w/e they used to call it back then.

The only thing that makes them better is they are slightly better in the performance department than simply putting color on your screen. At least they can play 1080p videos and such.

Ahh. Has AMD introduced something like Virtue-MVP where software switches the CPU/GPU combo and the dedicated GPU? I think that would be really beneficial.

I'm pretty sure they have a technology like that as Nvidia has one too. I just don't know off hand.

Didn't see this before. All I did was put AMD and Virtu-MVP together in Google and came up with this.

Interesting. Lucid now available for AMD platform. that's nice. Hope AMD keeps up!
