HERE is a list of ACTIVE and PASSIVE certified adapters to work with AMD cards. Other adapters not on the list may or may not work.

THESE are DP and MDP -> DVI Active adapters. They will for sure work.

Well Newegg doesn't have it marked on their page as active, so one can only assume either way. That's why I said, if it doesn't work you could always send it back.

An active adapter converts a true displayport signal into DVI/HDMI/VGA/whatever else. It will have either a converter chip or a DAC built in to do said conversion. Contrary to popular belief, they do not need to have a usb power connection, in fact there are many that do not.
The thing with generic adapters is that theres no real info on whats in them, thus its risky to try and buy a cheap one (<20$).

A general rule of thumb with active and passive adapters is the price. An active adapter will always be more expensive than a passive adapter

More expensive is better... generally a good rule of thumb. Until you get scammed.

If it's part of the requirement to get your stuff working properly, it's the only way to go. So, it's not necessarily a scam.

Well now i can confirm that the HIS dongle for eyefinity link works. All I needed to do is go into catalyst and enable the 3 monitor, I'll post some pics later on once I get everything set up.

It's an active adapter, so I don't see why it wouldn't.

I once read a story in a book on social psychology phenomenon. A storeowner working a tourist gift shop had some "American Indian" jewelry - topaz or something like that. Anyways, she was going out of town and wanted to liquidate them so she wrote "price at $20 and display in front" on them. They were $80 at that point. She got back and was astonished to find out that they had all sold super-quick. It turned out that the assistant had read it as "price at $200 and display in front". The author explained that b/c they were more expensive, people thought they were way better and bought that product.

    Talk about margin!

Though, I wouldn't buy some pieces of rock for more than $100 unless it was an engagement / wedding ring!

Lol yeah - they were tourists - it's like a disease, whenever you go on vacation (for some). I know I've done it a few times.

LOL I guess. Sometimes I feel it's OK to get "trapped", if you're a tourist. Although I have to say - doing your research and seeing the really good stuff is way better than going to places like the Four Corners or other scams like that.

Whatever happened to AMD`s DisplayPort hub that were supposed to come out right after the 6800 seriesÉ I just heard about them when those cards launched but they seem to have abandoned making it. It sounded like a neat idea.
