That doesn't answer my questions. Let me restate them.

Does simply having the key from THQ for this game grant me access to activate the game whenever I want on Steam? Or does the key need to be activated on Steam before a certain time period before the key expires?

I think you can activate whenever, but I'm not 100% positive on that.

I'm hording my keys without using them. I have tons of keys from indie bundles and other places which I haven't used. The only thing which tended to make me use them was the Steam sales achievement games, and sadly they haven't done them lately.

On a couple of sales you could get specific achievements in games which gave you a chance to win or get some free games or DLC. Some of these were fun achievements too. But the latest sales didn't have these, which is a pity.

this is very comforting.

yesterday when I was goign through my stack of games, i found a a couple of copies of Dark Messiah and Quake 4. I might be putting up some of the extras on eBay or something . make a few extra bucks or something.
