The Hobbit
What did you guys think? I was in AWE in the first 20 mins when they were giving the back story of the dwarves and Erebor. Absolutely gorgeous!
But biased opinion aside, I think the movie itself is pretty damn good, a little more playful than the other 3 but a bit long. I've heard they took bits from the Simarillion and that's why it's so long, but the more they feed me, the better!

Read it many, many years ago and will see the movie this weekend. All I want to know is if any characters are missing. IE Tom Bombadil etc.

I heard it has some weird elements to it, like it was shot at 48FPS, instead of 24FPS standard, so it looks very smooth and more unreal and easy to notice fake scenes and such. What did you guys think, is this true?

Tom Bombadil wasn't in this one, and I'm not sure if he's in it at all... I guess we will find out in the next 2 yrs =]. I don't know who else is missing because I haven't read the book...
I saw the regular framed one (which seamed fine) so I can't speak for myself, but yeah, I heard it made a lot of people dizzy and it was "too" real.

Yeah it was filmed at 48 fps and I think it makes the film look fantastic. Screw Cameron and his 3D BS.
Now that you mention it there is an app which will playback almost any video on a PC at 60fps. The difference is incredible. I can't remember the name of it but I'll dig through my downloads and post it if I can find it for those who want to experiment, especially those with a HTPC.Last edited by werty316; 01-03-2013 at 07:40 PM.

I believe any modern player can handle it. You just have to find film shot at 60fps.
