Wireless Tethering
Anyone here have any luck with that? I can do a wired tethering just fine, but I'm having a hell of a time getting wireless to work. I have a droid bionic with 2.3.4 and it's rooted. I've also downloaded this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=android.tether and messed around with the settings but still nothing. It creates an ad hoc type of connection but there's nothing behind it, so it has to be a setting I'm missing in my phone. Sigh.

When I had my Motorola Gen 1 phone, I was using that same WiFi Tether app. I could only get it to work in an ad-hoc mode as well, but I didn't care. At the most basic level, you should just able to tap the screen to turn on the feature and that's it. If you want security and such, you can apply those through the app settings.

I'm able to switch it on and connect to it, but it's an empty signal; there's no network to it. It's like shooting a blank haha. What am I missing?

That should be it. After you connect, you shoukd be able to go online without any issues.
Have you tried to uninstall and reinstall the app?

Tried that too. No luck =\. I think there's something in my phone preventing me from doing this but I can't figure out why. Bah. I'll just do the regular usb tethering.

Ok, I'm just going to unroot it and do an update on the OS... any ideas on how to unroot it? Lol. I would just do the regular factory reset but I'm afraid of bricking the phone.
The steps I found are pretty lengthy (http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all-...ies-guide.html) and I was wondering if you guys know a simpler way of doing it or if you can assure me that doing a factory reset will be ok.Last edited by Hokerie; 01-09-2013 at 07:58 PM.
