    Default SLI question

So I recently got another 560ti and have a Sli question. I am running them on a Gigabyte X79-UD3 which has 4 pci express slots. I am currently using the top two. I was wondering if any of you knew if using the third slot would effect performance?

Your board from top slot to bottom goes 16x 16x 8x 8x. However I do not think the Ti would use more than an 8x. IMO

    X79 has 40 2.0 lanes.

This. You're fine no matter what slot you put them in.

Yea I'm considering switching my cards around too. It will look goofy but it bugs me when my top 580 hits 98c.

So it looks like my MSI 560ti is running really hott!
I moved the gigabyte one down to the third slot and when I run Furmark the MSI one reaches 100c and throttles
I'm gonna take it out and look at the cooler for hair and maybe reapply TIM to the heatsink and see what that does

IMHO, keep your cards cool. Might not be the best way of doing things but I have, if possible, kept the slot or slots closest to the CPU clear when running SLI.

Is the fan at 100% when it gets that hot? If not then you need to reconfigure the fan ramp.

Then I would definitely take a look at the cooler and repaste it. My cards are only getting that hot because I have them overclocked like mad.

Just out of curiosity. Next time you have them both going full blast in the case. Load GPU-z and see what it says the 12V to the card is.

Thats the GPU core voltage. What does it say your 12V input to card is?

Reapplied the TIM and temps are slightly better after 25 min of Furmark temps max out at 97

I guess I just have a hot GPU or bad heatpipes in the cooler
