AMD’s wants to bring real-life hair to video games with the TressFX Hair technology. The TressFX*technology*uses AMD’s Graphic Core Next GPU and the DirectCompute programming language to perform real-time physics simulation. AMD has put such technology into the latest iteration of the popular Tomb Raider game title that brings the iconic Lara Croft character to life with clear visible strands to hair as oppose to blocky and jagged hair that we are used on video games.… Read More

Looks like you just need any HD7000 series GPU to make this work! It'd be nice though if AMD provided the option to add a less powerful GPU alongside the primary to offload the TressFX - or any other Physx type rendering - off of the primary card. I'd pick up a 7750 in a heartbeat for that!

It does need HD 7000 card since it uses DirectCompute. As for putting a second card to dedicate for calculation is a neat idea, I guess what you are thinking is like NVIDIA's dedicated physX idea where you put a second card and dedicated as PhysX.

That's exactly what I was thinking of!

I really wish AMD did something like that. I totally wouldn't mind populating my 2nd PCIe port with a 7750 for and AMD version of Physx.
