Wow that was a while ago a mere score in the 4000's makes me sad
http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm06=473474
this is my new one 5282, cant wait till i get my core 2 duo, I hope to destroy 6000 with it, also it greatly pisses me off how bias 3dmark 06 is towards dualcore cpus!!!! Like in the above instance if you look fps wise in games, I beat him in the HDR ones, and SM3, so in RL gaming performacne i think is moe of a compariosn than this 3dmark 06 ****, or 3dmark 05 is good b/c it isnt ridiculously bias to dual coreLast edited by pc_man_iac; 09-22-2006 at 08:07 PM.

it didnt even cost me $300CAD, brand new, have you tried it with a single core processor to see what your score would be? b/c if you do I guarantee you will e hard pressed to hit 5000 letalone 5282
If you take the 948points that your cpu beat my cpu by, and the consequential FPS loss, you would run slower whats ur 3dmark 05 score like that would be a more comparable thing b/c it isnt as favourable to dual core it is more of a a real world performance, where as this one is what might be a real world test.
heres my 05 score

OK guys!!!
I've just benched my 2x7900GT (SLI) with my X2 3800+ CPU.
The cards are currently not overclocked @470/1370 and the CPU is overclocked (2GHz@2.4GHz):
3DMark06: 7474 Pts

3DMark05: 11750 Pts

3DMark03: 27909 Pts

BTW, I tried to overclock the cards and set them on 550/1600!!! 3DMark06 ran like charm without any artifacts, but I got a result of around 5400Pts only...
Anyone knows what the problem might be??? Maybe the overclocking is unstable, though it passed 3DMark06 completely?
Anyway, I'll try again in the following days...

Cards probably throttled back do to heat. Increase the fan speed at full utilization.
What are your load temps at 40% fan speed?
Also when OC'ing don't jump in big amounts and run a bench every once and while to make sure its stable. Maybe invest in some aftermarket cooling

Yeah, I mightdo so...
Though I think for the meantime, I'll stick with the stock cooler and if it won't be enough, I just won't overclock...as I don't think I really need that overclock right now...
Thanks anyway, I'll try taking the overclock a bit back, and I'll keep you updated...

Yeah if you are controlling the fans your self you need them to run at 100% in 3D if you are going to overclock. Plus I would run them at 60% in 3D by default. To nice of cards to burn up.

Yeah, that's what I already did.
I've set the cards' fans to be at 25% at standard 2D, 40% at low power 3D and 65% at performance 3D.
Now the cards are currently (not-overclocked) ideling at 53C/57C and reach maximum 68C/72C on LOAD!!! (after running 3DMark06, and RTHDribl Demo).
And, at least for the following few months, I've decided NOT to overclock the cards, as I really don't need it at the moment, and beside that, I don't want to risk the cards...
So...what do you think about my temps? are they OK?

u would never need to oc those 7900gt's in sli, what the heat is also fine, u should just set it to 80% if u want, noise shouldnt be that big of a deal while gaming, right? then it can just queit down when not doing anything, so u can sleep silently
