I think a more up to date version of this thread - rather a new thread - should be "Bjorn3D AMD Eyefinity / NVIDIA Surround Screen Club"

how do you activate nvidia surround sound? It does provide sound option in my TV monitor but it kills the audio output for my main speakers.. How do you enable both? Is that even possible?

LOL! ahh okay.. I was using 6770 before on DVI connection.. It never game audio output in my TV/Monitor.. When I shifted to GTX 560TI, I was surprised it had audio output but I can't configure it in a way that it will produce output to my speakers and the monitor, I can only choose one

Were you using a dedicated HDMI cable on that 6770, or something else?

DVI to HDMI to be specific since my TV/Monitor only have VGA and HDMI input sockets. Still, why was the gtx560ti able to produce audio output? the 6770 didn't.. I was just surprised.. is it something nvidia normal have? or AMD cards should have it too? I wasn't just able to enable it?? The catalyst is kinda confusing by the way.. too many tabs.. I like nvidia's control panel.. simple but easy to navigate.

Gotcha. With AMD cards you can't take any DVI -> HDMI cable and expect to get audio. You need to use an AMD certified DVI -> HDMI adapter such as THIS ONE.

It's really all the same to me, IMO. If you have an AMD card and already have an HDMI cable, you just need to buy a $10 adapter for audio to pass through on a DVI port.
If you have an NVIDIA card, you need to buy a DVI -> HDMI cable. So, there's technically no difference except that the price of cable and adapter.

true but adapters are hard to find in my country. I was having a hard time looking for one. DVI cables are also cheaper unless I go with the chinese cheap hdmi cables that I dont really trust @__@
