Well, I thought is was too good to be true, and it was. I got into testing gaming and all the bad things that have been reported in most of the reviews, began to happen.

    1. Severe input lag
    2. Motion blur
    3. Slight ghosting

Well back to Circuit City it went, I had it for less than 24 hours and those idiots at CC charged me a 15% restocking fee...this is a first! Best Buy has never charged me a restocking fee. I have never been charged a restocking fee at CC until today and the customer rep pointed it out to me on the fine print on the receipt...Well they just lost a good customer.

I'm beginning to side with Das Capatolin in that I'm truly wondering if Wide Screen is the way to go. Never had these problems on any 4:3 monitor I ever owned. Oh well the search continues...
    Regards,

    Miles

Miles, if it wasn't for bad luck, you wouldn't have any luck at all............

Have you thought about trying the Acer 24", I think the only place you can get it is online though.

You can order it through Wal-Mart, they won't charge you a restocking fee...........

Miles what ever happened to the gateway 24" that you had...I thought you liked it?

Benq 24" has been getting great reviews and it comes with a HDMI port as well...just a tad more expensive.

Except for movies and games, I don't really see the point. I always find my screen not high enough, while there's always lots of blank space to the right when viewing webpages and the like @ 1024x768.

Well guys I went ahead and got the Dell and I must say I'm very impressed: no backlight bleed and no dead pixels. Colors are very good;not as good as S-IPS panel but not worth $800 - $1000 more $$$ for this size panel.
    Regards,

    Miles

I was thinking of getting the new 22" Dell E228WFP for $299 CAD, but it sold out before I had the chance.

Ok I got a new 24" Gateway monitor for xmas (superdiscounted through coupons, sales which put the price at $610). I dont have any of the problems that seem to trouble others including Miles....no ghosting, no buzzing noise, no heat problems, no dead pixels, natta!

Anyway, all I want to do with this monitor is do work (yuk!), do web surfing, play a few pc games.

The only other feature I am really looking to do is either hook up a slingbox (or alternative) and pipe in a football or basketball game through the PIP function that I want to watch while Im doing some of the yucky stuff. The real feature that I was looking for was 1:1 scaling so that the image looks normal and not "stretched" to fit the screen.

I guess it comes down to what you want to use the monitor for. I dont want to hook up an xbox or anything like that to this monitor. All I want to do is pipe in some sports game from time to time while the "fam" watches what they want to watch in the downstairs living room.

I can get 1080p through the dvi if I want to watch a movie at my workdesk (god know why) or 1080i through a slingbox to watch a football game.

Am I missing something here? I have 2 days to return this monitor to Best Buy for a full refund...help please.

    I told ya so!

I have found that it is best to keep the Dell 2407 on "Desktop" mode, you can visibly see the difference in color accuracy/improvement over the other two modes. Additionally I tend to start noticing a subtle banding or color flickr on some webpages when I use "Multimedia" or "Gaming" modes, but none at all with "Desktop". I forgot what site also found this out otherwise I would link to them.

Chakka, if you are happy with it then keep it. The only thing I might suggest is playing a couple favorite fast motion games, and watching a DVD on it.

Well Im back to the drawing board. I took the gateway 24 back to best buy because I decided to test everything on the monitor and 2 of the 4 usb ports did not work - it does seem that when you search the web on this 24 inch gateway that it been having "production" problems like usb ports not working, overheating, ghosting, buzzing noises, etc. They didnt have another in stock so I got all of my money back.

Well I was at least part of the widescreen club for 2 weeks. Looks like Ill wait a while cause it seems like some new lcds are hitting the market over the next month or two.

Boy my old 19 inch looks so so small...
