Default 8800gt Windows booting problem

Hello all,

My computer is asking to be thrown out the window...

First some specs on the soon to be flying computer:
*Gigabyte GA-73VM-S2 mbo
with onboard video GeForce 7050 (what I was using before 8800gt)
*700W Rocketfish PSU has 18A on +12V (x2)
*e4500 Intel dual core
*2gb ddr2 ram
*arbitrary (presumably) dvd/hdd drives

Basically my problem is that after installing the driver for the 8800gt, when I restart windows it stops at the loading screen. The little blue windows xp tic-tacs stop moving, and nothing else happens.

I have removed the old drivers and cleaned with Driver Cleaner Pro.

The card works before the drivers are installed, in both regular and safe mode. I can install the drivers, I have installed card/driver and driver/card multiple times in all different combinations between regular and safe mode. Tried both DVI ports.

I really do not want to reload windows, but that is looking like the next thing to try.

Any insight is greatly appreciated!

Was the onboard video disabled in the BIOS or device manager just to be sure? Any chance you can test this video card in another system? Have you also tried different driver versions? I would also start a support ticket at www.xfxforce.com.

There is no option to completely disable onboard video, only one to use the card first (if present).
I have it set to look at the pci-e first.
I have uninstalled the old display from device manager.
I have tried about five different driver versions, they all have the exact same result.
I also have the most recent bios installed on my mbo.

No way of testing the card in another system, at least right now.

Support ticket # 159212.

I am now trying a clean install of Windows on a spare hardrive to see if I can make that work. We will see...
