I’ve seen the future and it is game streaming

shield_top

For a week I have had a imported Nvidia Shield at home. I’ve been busy playing games and testing it but today I finally got around to testing the PC game streaming. After some initial hickups (it IS beta) I finally got it working and I got to say I think that this is the future of PC gaming right there and a feature that, if Nvidia plays it right, can earn them a lot of money. Plex going freemium – is it the end of the world?

I know I am not alone using Plex for media consumption. I would say it is by far my favorite Media Center Software, much because it handles all my media in the background (getting information about movies and TV-series episodes) and then allows me to access it on my iPad, Nexus 7, phone, desktop and so on. Add the support for “channels” where you find stuff like Hulu, Netflix (don’t ask me how well that works as I cannot use those here in Sweden) and it really is one piece of software I cannot be without.  No related posts. Welcome to Bjorn3D 2012

People who have been visiting us for a long time know that try to update the site at least once a year just to keep things fresh. This year the update isn't so big in the design department but bigger behind the scenes as we have moved the site from our own built CMS to WordPress 3.0. No related posts. Read More »

Why is Firefox so crap on my Mac?

Yesterday Firefox was updated to version 11. I was hoping that this new version would actually take care of its absolutely crappy behaviour on my Mac Book pro but guess what …. it doesn't. I installed it last night, had Firefox open with 2 tabs (yes, there was 2 small flash-banners on those but nothing fancy) and then went to sleep letting the computer go to sleep.  Today I woke up, closed the lid and went to work. As I opened up the lid and checked Firefox I realized it was very sluggish. Guess what? It now had consumed almost 2 GB of RAM + was running my CPU at 99%. Maybe it is the Flash-plugin that is buggy and has memory leaks but I've had similar experience also with pages without Flash so I think it is Firefox still leaking memory. No related posts. Moving to WordPress

After building the site by myself for over 16 years now (man, has bit been that long …) I'm finally making the move over to WordPress. Once mainly a blogg-tool, WordPress has definitely matured and I would say today is a competent CMS-tool also. I've been working with the Builder iThemes framework and I got to say it is really nice from a designer and developer point of view. It is easy to "build" the layout of the site and they got a bunch of great plugins (I love Backupbuddy and Loopbudy) that really helps improve the site.   No related posts. Read More »
