Zotac ZBox Pico PI320 – a PC in your pocket

featured_zotac_pico

Zotac is a company with lots of experience when it comes to small PC’s. We have reviewed some of them before and always come away impressed. The little PC we are testing today, and it really is little, is their smallest yet as it quite literally fits in your pocket. Even though it is small it still comes with WIndows 8 and is by all accounts a proper PC. It might not fit all users but it turns out to be a nifty little PC with several interesting use-cases. Synology announces the DS415play, a 4-bay NAS for media-junkies

synology415play

Synology has announced the DS415play. This is a 4-bay version of the DS214play giving anyone who has a big media-collection even more space to store it on. The idea with the “play”-versions of their NAS:es is that they are geared towards working as best as possible as a media hub offering to stream multiple HD-streams to various devices without breaking a sweat. The trick is that they come with hardware transcoding of various media formats making sure the CPU is not the limiting factor. CPU Dual-core Intel Atom running at 1.6 GHz Hardware transcoding H.264 (AVC), MPEG-4 Part 2, MPEG-2, VC-1 System memory 1 GB DDR3 Drive Bay(s) 4 Max. Plex going freemium – is it the end of the world?

I know I am not alone using Plex for media consumption. I would say it is by far my favorite Media Center Software, much because it handles all my media in the background (getting information about movies and TV-series episodes) and then allows me to access it on my iPad, Nexus 7, phone, desktop and so on. Add the support for “channels” where you find stuff like Hulu, Netflix (don’t ask me how well that works as I cannot use those here in Sweden) and it really is one piece of software I cannot be without.  No related posts.
