Windows 7 Pricing and Upgrade Option Revealed
With Windows 7 bound to be released in Oct 22, 2009, Microsoft has revealed the pricing of the upcoming Operating System and the Upgrade Option Program. The pricing are as follows:
- Windows 7 Home Premium (Upgrade): $119.99
- Windows 7 Professional (Upgrade): $199.99
- Windows 7 Ultimate (Upgrade): $219.99
- Windows 7 Home Premium (Full): $199.99
- Windows 7 Professional (Full): $299.99
- Windows 7 Ultimate (Full): $319.99
Microsoft also plans to offer a selected market an opportunity to pre-order Windows 7 at more than 50% discount starting tomorrow, June 26th and ends in July 11th in the US and July 5th for Japan and Canada.
Starting on June 26th, users who have purchased a computer with Windows Vista Home Premium, Business, or Ultimate will be able to upgrade to Windows 7 for FREE if the retailer participates in the Windows 7 Upgrade Option Program. The program will be available until Janurary 31st, 2010.
At initial launch, Microsoft will be releasing the Operating Systems in 14 languages: English, Spanish, Japanese, German, French, Italian, Dutch, Russian, Polish, Brazilian Portuguese, Korean, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese and Chinese (Hong Kong). And the software giants plans to release the rest of the languages in one week after its launched. This is a stark changes from the old way of doing things where it may take the company a few months to release other languages.
