Windows 7 Release to Manufacturing, Family Pack Confirmed

Windows 7 has reached the next stage of development, Release to Manufacturing (RTM). When an OS has reached this stage, it means that the code has been finalized and there is no more change as the discs are being manufactured. Any further changes will be released as updates. The final revision will have build number of 7600.

According to the Windowsteamblog, ISV (Independent software vendor) and IHV (Independent hardware vendor) Partner will be able to download the RTM version from Microsoft Connector or MSDN on August 6th. Microsoft Partner will be able to download the software on the August 16th. While the OEM will receive the software approximately on August 25th. For consumers, expect to buy Windows 7 on October 22nd.

On a related news, Microsoft has announced that there will be a Family Pack available for Windows 7. The information was previously rumored but the company has confirmed today. There will be a family pack of Windows 7 Home Premium that allows to install the software on up to 3 PCs.
