iPhone, Windows 7, and P55, not a good combination

The Register is reporting that some iPhone users are having trouble syncing with Windows 7. Users apparently are greeted with "error 0xE8000065" when plug in the iPhone. It was discovered that the problem is apparently due to Intel's new P55 Express Chipset.

It appeares to have been an issue for both 32bit and 64bit Windows 7. Also, both motherboard based USB port and the powered USB hub are also been affected. Some users are having luck fixing the issue by deleting the "iPodDevices.xml file from C:\Users username\AppData\Local\Apple Computer\iTunes, by disabling Bonjour, or by digging into the BIOS to turn on C-state capability."

So far, Intel has not made any official statement on such issue. Microsoft has released a statement saying that "Microsoft has not seen this particular question posed in the Microsoft Answers for Windows 7 community forum, nor in any of our call centers. We reviewed the issue raised on the Apple Discussion Board and are currently investigating. If we determine this to be a problem specific to Windows 7, we will post an update on the Microsoft Answers site."
