EVGA GTX 950 SSC ACX 2.0, GTX 950 goes Super SuperClocked!

Final Thoughts

From what we have seen from the EVGA GTX 950 SSC EVGA has released a Mainstream priced Video Card that borders on low-end enthusiast performance which Award_Silvermakes for an excellent value for budget conscious gamers.  In a lot of cases the EVGA GTX 950 SSC was within a few FPS of GTX 960 and certainly put out entirely playable FPS at 1080p with high graphical settings. That means that 1920 x 1080 gamers can save some bucks and purchase a EVGA GTX 950 SSC and still enjoy high graphical settings without giving in to stuttering games with FPS dropping below 30.

For it’s price point the EVGA GTX 950 SSC, and indeed most models of GTX 950 perform better than any other GPU at the same price point of $169.99. Being at the $169.99 price point puts the EVGA GTX 950 SSC up against some stiff competition in the GTX 950 range. We are all for factory overclocked cards with good solid factory overclocks and believe that warranty covered factory OC is worth the extra money. Sure it’s $10 or 20 bucks over a reference clocked GTX 950 but you get 6 + 2 power phase on the EVGA GTX 950 SSC as well as the EVGA GTX 950 FTW, the models below that get  4 + 1 phase power and as we all know the more phases for power delivery the less strain per phase, less strain means lower temps and lower temps means better longevity so you’re not just getting a GTX 950 you are getting a GTX 950 with ACX 2.0 cooling, straight heat pipes, 6 + 2 phase power and EVGA’s long track record of high quality GPU’s.

You can rest easy at night knowing EVGA has your graphics needs covered and while some might say the EVGA GTX 950 FTW is a bit over engineered we prefer to say it’s engineered for the long haul with well thought out components designed durably for the most demanding gamers who want the best engineering under the hood of their gaming shrine.

Pros Cons
  • Decent Overclocking
  • Performance
  • Straight Heat Pipes
  • ACX 2.0 Cooling
  • Quiet Operation
  • Outperforms R7 370
  • Best Quality Components .
  • DirectX 12 ready
  • Win 10 Ready
  • Runs 1920 x 1080 Easily On Demanding Games
  • Ran A Little Hot On The Default Fan Profile*
  • 2GB GDDR5 Limiting High Resolution Gaming

*  By ran a little hot on default fan profile what we mean is a little hotter than we like, the EVGA GTX 950 SSC runs at perfectly acceptable temperatures and well within the GPU’s thermal envelope but we would like to see  little more aggressive fan profile but that would be hard to achieve given that the fans don’t even kick on until 60°C. We are however torn a little the quiet gaming is nice but resetting the fan profile didn’t really add a noticeable amount of noise to the test rig.
